Andover Sports Awards

26th November 2011
Celebrating Sporting Achievement

Saturday 26th November 2011 was the first Sports Awards ceremony held at Andover Leisure Centre, hosted by Valley Leisure in conjunction with Andover Sound and supported by Test Valley Borough Council.

The event was established to recognise that all the hard work and commitment that goes into the sporting clubs helps better our community and the health and wellbeing of its residents. We had over 100 nominations across 10 different categories which provided the backdrop for an evening dedicated to celebrating sporting achievement. All of the category winners automatically qualify for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Sport Awards which is a county wide event. With the much appreciated support of the sponsors of the event; Barclays Corporate, JPD Property, Matrix and Simply Health a phenomenally successful evening was had by all.

The 400+ guests were from all walks of sports and enjoyed the evening opened with a fanfare by The Army Cadet Force Band for Hampshire and Isle of Wight, a buffet meal, the sport awards and live entertainment provided by local band Funkline.

The ten sponsored award categories were
• Sports Person of the Year – WINNER Natalie Thomas, Biathle
• Sports Team of the Year – WINNER Team Falcons, Kick Boxing
• Junior Sports Team of the Year – WINNER John Hanson’s U14’s Football Team
