Charlton Lakes Golf Community heralded 2017 by staging the annual New Year Chalice competition on Saturday 7 January.

A good entry field played through the early mist and Andy Ward (handicap 5) emerged the winner beating Brian White (handicap 6) with a round of 2-under par.

Runner up, Brian, did come out on top one week earlier by setting a new course record at the Charlton site as well as scoring a hole-in-one on the 5th hole. This was the golfer’s second ace on the course since the club’s foundation in 2014.

The golf community now has 67 members and is free to join – there are also no membership fees. The community’s aim is to provide social and competitive golf to all regardless of age, gender or ability.
