Hundreds of Santas are set to sweep through Romsey streets once again this December when the Santa Fun Run returns for a second year.

The festive fitness event is scheduled for Sunday 11 December and features a mile-long fun run – or walk – through Romsey town centre, starting at the Romsey Town Council building.

It’s suitable for all ages as everyone can go at their own pace.

Mums, dads, babies, toddlers, teenagers and grandparents are all among those who dress as the jolly man in red and join in. Some even bring their family pet!

Around 200 Santas took part in Romsey’s first Santa Fun Run last Christmas, and this year Valley Leisure, the charity that runs the event, hopes for record numbers of red-suited, white bearded men, women and children taking part.

Kevin Paterson, chief executive of Valley Leisure said: “It’s always a pleasure to host the Santa Fun Run. Last year’s events in Romsey and Andover were both a brilliant success and we hope to see even more people this year. They come together as a community to raise money for charity, be active and have fun.”

The run starts at 9am with registration from 8am and a fun warm up at 8.45am.

Tickets for this year’s event can be bought online in advance on the Valley Leisure website. They are £6 or an adult and £4 for a child.

The number of suits available are limited. But everyone who pre-books is guaranteed a Santa suit and these can be collected from the reception at Romsey Rapids Sports Complex from now on.

Valley Leisure organises events, such as the fun run, to help more people become more active and support the local community.
