#LoveAndover – I Can Climb is raising funds for local organisations

Why the 3 Peaks Challenge I hear you ask? Because we #loveandover.

Rotary exists across the UK and is rooted in local communities in the form of groups and clubs, all of whom are committed to being ‘people of action.’

Andover is fortunate to have two local Rotary Clubs. The ‘I Can Climb’ challenge has been organised by the Andover Rotary Club who dedicate a significant amount of time and effort to supporting local community groups and organisations who exist to help people in and around Andover.

On average the Andover Rotary Club donate over £10,000 per year to local charities and community groups and organisations.

Six local charities will benefit from fundraising efforts on the back of the Valley Leisure Ltd I Can Therapy Centre team taking on the challenge of the 3 Peaks – I Can Climb. Here’s a short introduction to each

Andover Rotary Club – Rotary members volunteer their time and talents to tackle challenges at home and abroad in cause areas including promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, supporting education, saving mothers and children and growing local economies. Members create opportunities by harnessing their time, energy and passion to mobilise their communities, supporting those who need it most and transforming their lives.

Valley Leisure Ltd – An independent charitable trust based in Andover, Hampshire. Having been established over 30 years ago, the charity aims to improve people’s health and wellbeing by providing facilities and services that enable people to move more and feel better. The charity achieves its core mission through two service delivery brands Riverside Bowl and the I Can Therapy Centre. Funds raised from I Can Climb will go directly to the further development of the I Can Therapy Centre, Andover.

Andover Neighbourcare – A local charity that has been helping the less-able and Senior Citizens for over 25 years in Andover and surrounding areas. Andover Neighbourcare assists those in genuine need in the local community by providing support to maintain their independence with services such as transport, shopping, cleaning, gardening, relieving carers, internet training and much more.

Andover Young Carers – Andover Young Carers have been raising awareness, providing support and advocating on behalf of the young carers of Andover, and surrounding villages since 2000. Through our work with local schools identifying potential young carers, engagement with statutory agencies and other local charities regarding support, and running groups both at our Bungalow and off site, we ensure that the needs of young carers are recognised and met.

Andover Riding for the Disabled – Started in 1972, Andover Riding for the Disabled provides horses and ponies for therapy, achievement and enjoyment for people with disabilities. Located at several sites in and around Andover, the charity supports both adults and children with riding and carriage driving.

Unity – Based in Andover town centre, Unity provides access to resources, funding and training to support and encourage community initiatives to enable Test Valley to have a strong and effective voluntary and community sector.

To support anyone of these local charities, please pop in to meet their teams and sponsor the I Can Climb team by completing the hard copy sponsorship forms at each centre. Each charity is aiming to raise at least £1000 which will be reinvested into their vital work on the ground to support local people.

An online funding portal is in development and will be available soon.
