Romsey has one of the best run leisure centres in the country according to an independent assessment.
Romsey Rapids Sports Complex retained its ‘excellent’ rating by Quest, the UK quality scheme for sport and leisure, backed by Sport England, a classification which places it in the top five per cent of UK leisure centres accredited under the Quest quality scheme.
The sports complex, run by leisure trust Valley Leisure on behalf of Test Valley Borough Council, now joins sister centre, Andover Leisure Centre as one of the top best-run leisure centres in the country.
The facility in Andover successfully retained its ‘excellent’ rating during the summer. Under the health and safety element of the review, Andover Leisure Centre is graded as Number One in the country in this section too.
Kevin Paterson, chief executive of Valley Leisure said: “I am delighted by this outstanding achievement. To have both centres retain their ‘excellent’ status and to also receive the recognition for our approach to health and safety, is testament to the hard work and dedication of our wonderful staff at Valley Leisure. They are working extremely hard to provide first-rate facilities and activities for the communities across Test Valley, and are extremely customer focussed.”
Quest reviews how a leisure facility is run. It looks at issues such as customer satisfaction, complaints management, cleaning and housekeeping, community involvement, health and safety practices and sends mystery shoppers to see how things work in real life, not just on paper.
It defines industry standards and good practice and encourages their ongoing development and delivery within a customer focused management framework.
