Kevin is an admitted Solicitor. Following a successful career in the private sector spanning law, financial services and consultancy, he joined Valley Leisure as CEO in 2010.
Kevin is passionate about the role of physical activity in community settings to promote positive physical and mental wellbeing.
Barry, our Finance Manager, is a finance professional spending most of his career in the telecoms sector working for Cable and Wireless and Vodafone and latterly for smaller fixed line operators. Barry joined Valley Leisure in February 2011.
Community Health Development Manager
Liz holds a degree in Sport and Exercise Science gained in 2002 and has a keen interest and passion in the use of exercise and physical activity for the benefit of health and wellbeing. Liz started her Fitness career with Valley Leisure Ltd in 2000 as Fitness Instructor at Andover Leisure Centre and later progressed to the role of GP Exercise Referral Coordinator.
After a period of 8 years working in Local Government as an Active Lifestyles Coordinator, gaining nationally recognised qualifications in Cardiac Rehabilitation and Falls Prevention and after becoming a Mum, Liz re-joined Valley Leisure Ltd in 2012 as Community Development Manager. This role enables Liz to pursue her passion for enabling as many people as possible to move more to feel better, especially those who are inactive or deconditioned as a result of various health conditions.
Riverside Bowl - Facility Manager
Nicki has a background in Sports Development, Children’s Activities and Event Management. She played a key role in the launch of the Riverside Bowl complex and now manages the service.
Board of Trustees
Valley Leisure is a charitable trust, which operates through a Board of Trustees. Our trustees are all volunteers, and play a leading role in ensuring the trust is a strong and commercially sound business and that our charitable objectives are achieved.
The trustees bring significant experience and expertise including financial management, marketing, human resources and leisure with demonstrable success in business at both national and international level.
Dr Keith Blacker
Keith is a chartered accountant and spent most of his career working in the financial services industry. He has a doctorate in operations risk management, and was the former finance director at the Simplyhealth Group. Keith joined Valley Leisure as a trustee in 2007.
Nick runs his own business providing specialist recruitment services. He is a keen sportsman with a particular interest in sport and the role it plays in developing healthy lifestyles. Nick joined Valley Leisure as a trustee in 2010.
Gavin Scott Duncan
Gavin has spent most of his career working in the healthcare, biotech and medical device sectors with a successful track record of managing challenging situations (both UK and International), including: start-ups, early stage businesses and company turnarounds. He holds a number of board appointments, both in an executive and non-executive capacity. He joined Valley Leisure as a trustee in 2010.
Kieran is currently Associate Director of Contracting at NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit, having joined the NHS in 2013. He has a wide contract management experience in the health, business process outsourcing and leisure industries having previously worked as both a leisure consultant and Senior Development Manager at Sport England. Throughout his career, Kieran has maintained a strong interest in sport and leisure development and has a keen interest and participation in cycling, cricket, squash and winter sports. He joined Valley Leisure as a Trustee in 2015.
Peter has over 25 years of experience of working in the public sector. He spent 18 years in the Army as an infantry officer and then moved to the NHS in 2005, initially as a divisional operations director within London Ambulance Service. From there he spent time within the regional tier of the NHS before taking up a post within local commissioning organisations in Hampshire. He is currently director of system delivery for NHS Southampton City Clinical Commissioning Group.
Sarah Ford has been with Simplyhealth since August 2008 and is responsible for Corporate Communications, Brand and Insight across Simplyhealth. Her main challenge is to build Simplyhealth’s reputation as a brand that uses insight to deliver products and services that support positive health outcomes for consumers and employers. Sarah has an extensive marketing and communications background having worked in both the UK and Australia. She joined Simplyhealth after 10 years at British Airways where she undertook a variety of roles predominantly in the marketing and communications area.
Since joining Simplyhealth Sarah has reshaped the companies approach to retaining and building loyalty with customers through an integrated customer marketing communications strategy, implemented several strategic initiatives that have enhanced Simplyhealth’s focus on delivering great customers experiences and developed an Insight and Research framework that has provided Simplyhealth with greater understanding of its markets, customers and the wider world of health. Sarah is a keen sports fan and in her spare time enjoys running, swimming and travelling.
