Kevin is an admitted Solicitor. Following a successful career in the private sector spanning law, financial services and consultancy, he joined Valley Leisure as CEO in 2010.
Kevin is passionate about the role of physical activity in community settings to promote positive physical and mental wellbeing.
Finance ManagerBarry, our Finance Manager, is a finance professional spending most of his career in the telecoms sector working for Cable and Wireless and Vodafone and latterly for smaller fixed line operators. Barry joined Valley Leisure in February 2011.
Partnerships ManagerLiz holds a degree in Sport and Exercise Science and has gained nationally recognised qualifications in Exercise Referral, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Falls Prevention and Exercise after Stroke. At the heart of Liz’s work lies her interest and passion in the use of exercise and physical activity for the benefit of physical, mental and social health and wellbeing.
Through a diverse career spanning 20 years in the private, public and third sector, Liz has developed extensive experience working with less able, deconditioned and unwell populations to improve their health and wellbeing working in collaboration and partnership with likeminded organisations to facilitate physical activity opportunities. Liz has been instrumental in the development and implementation of Valley Leisure’s ‘I Can Therapy Centres’
HR and Implementation ManagerNicki has worked for Valley Leisure Ltd for 12 years, she has a background in Sports Development, Events and Project Management.
Nicki led the Project Management and redevelopment of ‘Riverside Bowl’ and subsequently became the Facilities Manager, she has a ‘Prince 2’ and CIPD level 5 qualification and has recently transitioned from this post to a HR and Implementations Management position for Valley Leisure Ltd.
Operations ManagerChris has always been passionate about the leisure industry, and in particular the customer experience and the benefits gained from leading an active and healthy lifestyle. Chris attained his degree in Sport Studies and Business in 2004 and soon after started working for Valley Leisure. Chris progressed through various roles within Valley Leisure and after 8 years was appointed as one of the senior managers being responsible for the service and revenue for the charity.
Having then gained further experience with the leading national operator of bowling venues, Chris returned to Valley Leisure in April 2019 as the Operations Manager.
Board of Trustees
Valley Leisure is a charitable trust, which operates through a Board of Trustees. Our trustees are all volunteers, and play a leading role in ensuring the trust is a strong and commercially sound business and that our charitable objectives are achieved.
The trustees bring significant experience and expertise including financial management, marketing, human resources and leisure with demonstrable success in business at both national and international level.
Dr Keith Blacker
ChairmanKeith is a chartered accountant and spent most of his career working in the financial services industry. He has a doctorate in operations risk management, and was the former finance director at the Simplyhealth Group. Keith joined Valley Leisure as a trustee in 2007.
Gavin Scott DuncanGavin has spent most of his career working in the healthcare, biotech and medical device sectors with a successful track record of managing challenging situations (both UK and International), including: start-ups, early stage businesses and company turnarounds. He holds a number of board appointments, both in an executive and non-executive capacity. He joined Valley Leisure as a trustee in 2010.
Peter HornePeter has over 25 years of experience of working in the public sector. He spent 18 years in the Army as an infantry officer and then moved to the NHS in 2005, initially as a divisional operations director within London Ambulance Service. From there he spent time within the regional tier of the NHS before taking up a post within local commissioning organisations in Hampshire. He is currently director of system delivery for NHS Southampton City Clinical Commissioning Group.
Kieran HumphreyKieran is currently Associate Director of Contracting at NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit, having joined the NHS in 2013. He has a wide contract management experience in the health, business process outsourcing and leisure industries having previously worked as both a leisure consultant and Senior Development Manager at Sport England. Throughout his career, Kieran has maintained a strong interest in sport and leisure development and has a keen interest and participation in cycling, cricket, squash and winter sports. He joined Valley Leisure as a Trustee in 2015.
Sue MillsSue Mills currently works as the Customer Care Manager at Stannah and has done so for nearly 18 years. She is passionate about the provision of first class customer service and ensuring that the customer is always the top priority. Prior to that, Sue worked in Sales for both Stannah and the local Andover Advertiser and also had a stint as an Estate Agent.
Sue has lived in Andover since a very early age and is delighted to be invited to join Valley Leisure. As a proud local, she will strive to assist with any projects that might enhance our local community. Sue is married with two grown up daughters, a son-in-law and a grand-daughter and in her spare time enjoys spending time with both the family and friends alike.
Nick’s professional life began at Unilever plc in 1977 where he held various financial positions and qualified as an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants in 1984. He subsequently joined the Automobile Association in 1988 to broaden his experience in general management roles that included leading a successful start-up business.
In 2000 he became the AA’s Director of Business Services, a position he held until 2003. He then moved into Financial Services with Simplyhealth, becoming the Director of Customer Service until 2009 and the Finance Director of P&I Ltd from 2010 to 2014, prior to joining the Harwood Wealth Management Group in 2014 as CFO. Harwood completed a successful listing to the AIM market in 2016.
Following two full years as a listed Company delivering results ahead of market expectations, Nick decided to step down from the Board and continues as Company Secretary on a part-time basis.
