Valley Leisure is a charity that has the community at its heart
In November 2017, the Charity opened the I Can Therapy Centre as part of its evolving portfolio of community based opportunities to engage people in moving more and feeling better. The unique and innovative power assisted exercise facility aims to enable everyone regardless of age, mobility or health to live as well as possible for as long as possible.
The charity currently operates the Riverside Bowl in Andover which is a fantastic entertainment venue for Andover and the surrounding area, it is not just a Bowling venue, it also offers Glo-Golf, Snooker and Pool, together with an American Diner. There are stylish meeting rooms which registered local community groups can book for free. These meeting rooms can also be booked at a reasonable price for corporate events and children’s parties.
As part of Valley Leisure’s ethos, we view Riverside Bowl as a venue which we will use to promote innovative physical activity, referral schemes and a social hub for the local community.
Plans for the Future
Valley Leisure operated the leisure services across Test Valley under a contract with Test Valley Borough Council between 1990 and 2017. The end of the contract has afforded the charity an exciting opportunity to reposition how it delivers on its charitable objectives outside of leisure centre settings.
The strategy of the charity is to develop a range of complimentary services which will help to keep people mobile across all age groups – from activities for young people in fun settings through to providing settings to combat loneliness in the elderly whilst promoting physical and mental wellbeing.
As a charity, we have well-established links with numerous partners, including:
- Hampshire County Council
- Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust
- Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
- NHS West Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group
We have deep links with various educational groups, local charities and community groups which are important aspects of our ability to play an active role in the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve.
