Valley Leisure Ltd is governed by an experienced Board of Trustees who play a leading role to ensure that the charity is well resourced to meet its charitable objectives.
Trustees
From a variety of backgrounds including financial management, risk management, finance, health and customer services and with demonstrable success in business at both national and international level, all Trustees are volunteers, passionately committed to the ethos of the charity.
Gavin Scott Duncan
Chairman
Gavin has spent most of his career working in the healthcare, biotech and medical device sectors with a successful track record of managing challenging situations (both UK and International), including: start-ups, early stage businesses and company turnarounds. He holds a number of board appointments, both in an executive and non-executive capacity. He joined Valley Leisure as a trustee in 2010.
Adam Poulter
Trustee
Adam has 15 years experience working in the healthcare sector as a specialist physiotherapist. He spent the early part of his career in the NHS, and now runs a private physiotherapy service for those living with neurological conditions and the elderly. He is passionate about helping people move with confidence and is delighted to join the board of trustees.
Anya Higgins
Trustee
Anya has spent all her 25 years career working in the Further and Higher Education sector specialising in sport and leisure management. She taught and managed a consortium of further & higher education provision with the University of Hertfordshire for 12 years. She currently programme leads a Masters in Sport Management for Solent University. She joined Valley Leisure as a trustee in 2022.
Ranga Mugabe
Trustee
Ranga is a seasoned Care Quality Commission registered manager. He has over 20 years experience of working in health and social care sector. He has worked with and managed the care and support services of adults with various conditions including physical and learning disabilities, autism, behaviour which challenges etc. Ranga is currently Enham Trust’s Head of care and support services. He joined Valley Leisure as a Trustee in 2022.
Maria Murphy
Trustee
Maria is a confident, self-motivated professional with a strong work ethic and a passion for making a difference. With experience in financial services and the charity sector, she offers a unique mix of strategic thinking, project management, and people skills.
At Lloyds TSB and Midland Bank, she gained expertise in compliance, engagement, and customer service, consistently excelling in data analysis, project delivery, and relationship building.
Maria later joined Andover Mind as Project Manager for the Ugly Duckling initiative, where she led community projects, secured funding, and built partnerships that made a real impact.
Since 2018, she has been an active member of the I Can Therapy Centre, drawing on her own experience of living with MS since 1997. Her journey reinforces her belief in inclusive, community-led programmes that help people live well.
Senior Management Team
The day-to-day operation of the charity is managed by a skilled and dedicated team of Senior Managers. Together, with their complementary backgrounds and skillsets, they facilitate the delivery of the service and charitable objectives.
Chris Attrill
Chief Executive
Having then gained further experience with the leading national operator of bowling venues, Chris returned to Valley Leisure in April 2019 as the Operations Manager. In August 2020, Chris was appointed as the Chief Executive and will now be the driving force behind ensuring the charity continues to develop and deliver in these challenging times.

Finance Manager
Barry joined Valley Leisure in February 2011.
Liz Murray
Partnerships Development Manager
Having started ‘on the shop floor’ as a Fitness Instructor whilst studying a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science, Liz has harnessed and honed her unique communication style to establish and energise partnership networks, inspiring others to believe in the ‘I Can’ concept and all that Valley Leisure seeks to achieve throughout its charitable work.
