If you’re looking to improve your mental wellbeing, boost your confidence, and move your body in a gentle, supported way, Yoga for Wellbeing could be exactly what you need to start the new year feeling stronger, calmer, and more connected.
Delivered by Valley Leisure Ltd in partnership with Doda Yoga, Andover Mind, and the Andover Primary Care Network, this free, 12-week course is designed specifically for people in and around Andover who experience stress, low mood, anxiety, or depression.
What is Yoga for Wellbeing?
Yoga for Wellbeing is a small, closed-group programme that brings together up to 12 people for weekly 2-hour sessions led by experienced yoga teacher Naomi Hurst. Each session is designed to help you:
- Move your body gently and safely
- Learn grounding, relaxation, and breathing techniques
- Build awareness of your mind and body
- Develop helpful skills you can use beyond the session
- Connect with others who understand what you’re going through
You’ll also enjoy time after each session to talk, share experiences, and connect over refreshments – something past participants have said is just as valuable as the yoga itself.
A Safe, Supportive Space to Breathe and Be Yourself
We know that starting something new can feel daunting, especially if you’re managing your mental health. That’s why Yoga for Wellbeing provides:
- A calm, inclusive environment
- A friendly, supportive teacher
- A group that stays together for all 12 weeks
- All equipment provided – journal, mat, blocks, and strap
- Volunteers on hand to support you
Past participants say the sessions have helped them feel more capable, more grounded, and more connected:
“Yoga has given me the confidence to go walking.”
“After my session, I felt kindness in myself; I shared it with everyone else.”
“My heart rate dropped from 101bpm before I started to 68bpm by the end.”
