Tea, Tag & Talk: A Perfect Blend of Connection and Fun

On Wednesday 8th July, I Can Move More and Riverside Activity Zone came together to host Tea, Tag & Talk from 11am – 1pm… and what a fantastic success it was!

It was wonderful to see such a brilliant turnout, with people from across the charity joining us for a truly unique and uplifting event. The atmosphere was instantly warm and welcoming, as people came together to connect, chat, and enjoy something a little different.

Guests spent the morning building social connections over tea and coffee, with plenty of biscuits and cupcakes to go around. The room was filled with laughter and conversation, creating a relaxed and friendly space for everyone to feel included.

But this wasn’t your typical coffee morning… alongside the refreshments came the action! Participants had the chance to get involved in Laser Tag missions, adding an exciting twist to the day. For many, it was a completely new experience – but one that was embraced with enthusiasm, energy, and plenty of smiles.

One of the most inspiring aspects of Tea, Tag & Talk was the diversity of people who took part. The event reflected the charity’s commitment to creating welcoming opportunities where everyone can connect, build confidence and enjoy being active in a way that suits them. Whether attendees chose to catch up over tea and cake or get involved in the Laser Tag action, every interaction contributed to a fantastic collective step count and demonstrated how movement can be fun, social and accessible.

The combination of social time and physical activity made Tea Talk & Tag something truly special. It was a brilliant example of how bringing people together in new ways can inspire confidence, encourage movement, and strengthen our community.

We were also honoured to welcome Councillor Tony Burley, who attended the event in his role as Town Mayor. His visit was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the impact of the wider work being delivered across both Riverside Activity Zone and I Can Move More.

During his time at the event, Councillor Burley took a genuine interest in learning more about the services and opportunities available within the local community. From speaking with attendees to observing the activities taking place, he was able to see first-hand how the charity brings people together through inclusive, engaging experiences. His presence highlighted the importance of community-focused initiatives like this, and the role they play in supporting wellbeing, social connection, and accessible physical activity for all.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and made the event so memorable. We can’t wait to do it all again!
