Week 6 Update

5 fixtures were completed on week 6, due to players being unavailable, with 3 matches to be completed. The current league table sees the same two names at the top, both on 30 points. However, Kevin has taken top spot off Lee based on pinfall.

Kevin bounced back from a 1st game loss (181 – 175) against Ashton, to record a 6-2 victory, with the league leader recording a 213 scratch, which was both High Game Scratch of the night and also High Game Handicap of the season so far (264). Ashton now sits in 9th place on 22 points, along with 3 other bowlers.

Lee also had to come from 2 points down to win 6-2 over Cheryl. Despite losing the first game (168 – 184), Lee then took the 2nd game by 10 pins (181 – 171) and 3rd game by 30 pins (197 – 167). Thus winning the overall by 24 pins. Cheryl now sits in 4th position but still has a match in hand over those around her.

Moving into 3rd place and just 2 points behind is Roger, who defeated Ian W (8-0). Roger took the opening 4 points available with scores of (187 – 163) and (178 – 165). The final game was a close affair, with Roger taking the win by just 1 pin. This result leaves Ian in 12th place on 20 points.

Mark has quietly moved up to 5th place on 24 points, thanks to a 7-1 win over Lesley. Mark took the opening game (175-166), but Lesley earned a point by drawing the second game (179 – 179). The 3rd game saw Mark win by 20 points (202 – 182) and take the total score points as well. Lesley now sits in 13th place on 19 points, but still has a match in hand.

The final game saw Phil complete an 8-0 victory over Glenn. An opening game win (211 – 187) was backed up with a (208 – 164) success for Phil. The overall victory was ensured in the final game by just 7 pins (188 – 181). This results see’s Phil move up to 7th position in the table, level on points with Glenn, who is in 6th place, on 22 points.

We will have to wait until the middle of May for the clash between the leagues best average score players – Jason and Ian D.

Looking at Week 7 fixtures, we have some highly anticipated matches – with Jason paired against Cheryl W, Ian W faces off against Ian D and Maria is against partner Glenn.

Overall the league still remains very close with 1st and 12th place separated by just 10 points – so still all to play for.
