Week 6 Update
A shorter update this week as only 2 of the 3 matches were played, with The Tumbleweeds rescheduling their match with Easy Easy You Shut Up in the catch-up week in May.
String Pins extended their lead at the top of the table with a 8-0 victory over The Bagel Boys. Lee top scored in the 1st game with a 199 scratch, which resulted in a 380 – 320 win. String Pins secured the 2nd game, with both Lee (170 scratch) and Ian W (156 scratch) out scoring their opponents, 375 – 356. The 3rd game saw a much closer game, with The Bagel Boys losing out by just 10 pins (358 – 348). The result means String Pins advance to 36 points, while The Bagel Boys remain bottom of the table on 8 points.
The Pin Pricks moved into second place on 20 points after collecting a consolation 2 points as they suffered a 6-2 defeat to Team Turkey. The Pin Pricks started well with Phil hitting a 156 scratch in the opening game, which took the opening 2 points for The Pin Pricks. Mark replied for Team Turkey with a 154 scratch, backed up with Roger completing with a 135 scratch. The deciding game belonged to Mark, who finished with a 201 scratch and with Roger also scoring a 155 scratch, ensured the overall total score (1175 – 1044). Team Turkey remain in 6th place on 14 points, but have a game in hand on a few teams above them.
The league is nearing the halfway stage and it looks like The String Pins are the team to catch as they have opened up a 16 point lead at the top, however they have played a match more than everyone else and with their bye week coming up in Week 7, it will be up to the chasing pack to make up as much of the point difference as they can.
